You have a good feel for the ED + his business plans but one matter is troubling you. You are not fishing for evidence of matrimonial discord but you do want to satisfy yourself that the Wife in on board and that there are no tensions which could come into play in the mediation going forward. ED says he will set up the meeting + helps you by saying he will not be present – a reassuring move by the ED
In the event you meet with the Wife and outline to her the basic facts of the dispute between ED and the 12 LD’s. You are looking for an upset or a comment about the marriage that might impact on the ED’s plans going forward. In the event there is none. The couple seem quite contented + the Wife ceases to be seen as a potential negative factor.
You then meet with the LD’s – all 12 of them. This was always going to be accident prone + you approach matters gently. It emerges that in the main the LD’s have benefitted from the growing relationship with the ED. Their earnings have increased; their expenses have been controlled and in the main they like the relationship. But they are nervous about two issues – first the possible emergence of the US Investor and second that constant probing about the two medical negligence issues and the two sexual assaults
On the medical negligence there are two complaints about the same dentist for his root canal work. He is adamant he is not guilty and is suffering at the hands of an elderly, not to say vexatious, patient. One of his colleagues jumps to his defence with his past difficult experience with the same patient. The two sexual assaults involve the same dentist and relate to a teenage female patient. Apparently the treatment on both occasions took place without a dental nurse present.
